1992 Honda Prelude

      hey i have a 1992 honda prelude 2.3 liter automatic and has a new engine from another honda prelude a 94 automatic 2.3 liter dohc
      I am having shifting problems or mabye speed sensor going bad
      I will drive my car fist thing when i wake and go for a ride and it will run fine then i come back park it for a while and drive again my rpm will go up when i press on the gas but not my speedometer and it wont shift and ill be going 10 -15 mph. Sometimes it will catch and start going and i have to shift the car myself like let off the gas when it get to 2000rpms and it will shift and ill be going 40 mphs and the speedometer will go from 40mph down to 0 and then back up to 40 then sometimes it will just go up and down randomly its really wierd. Hope someone can help thanks

        I would be replacing the output speed sensor if the connector is fully seated.

            those helped a little but it is hard to find and get to the speed sensor in my car, anyone have any tips for getting the speed sensor out on my prelude

              Also make sure your grounds were all reattached and are making good contact.

              If this started soon after the engine swap I would lean more to a pinched wire or damaged ground.

                Yeah. My Prelude started acting up badly and it took me 5 distributors later only to figure out the main ground under the thermostat housing was loose.

                  I’m guessing the problems have gone away now that you’ve fixed the ground?
