Well I took it off and cleaned it but still shuts off. Is there any other way to to test the IACV?

if you have ac in the car turn it on.the engine should idle
up.will this engine when warm hold a base idle?

The IACV checked out fine. I got a CEL code 43 that came on but I’m still having trouble finding out the issue. seems to be running bit rich when i can get it to stay on. So I think I going to check the Fuel pressure regulator next..

I think it’s doubtful to be a fuel delivery issue. You might check for vacuum leaks however as I have seen the intake gaskets leak on those from time to time.

I’ll def check for vacumm next. it has a hard time starting like wants to start then it doesn’t and sometime it will go poof out the intake almost like a back fire but not really lol. and i checked the timing all that checks out. and like I said wants i get to start I have to keep gas to it or else it will shut off..

i have a 91 civic ef and the same thing happen to my car but i was able to fix problem by adjusting the idle setting.i increased the idle setting and now its running fine…if you are using carb then you migh want that to be cleaned or replaced…

Don’t adjust the idle screw unless it looks like it’s already been tampered with. If you try to adjust the idle and it hasn’t been tampered with then it’s likely when you find the REAL problem it won’t run or will run poorly. I see this a lot. Adjusting the idle is not a ‘fix’, it’s a band aid. To be honest there is a special procedure you must follow when setting base idle. It’s set at the factory and should never be altered.

                          Keep us posted.

yeah watched your video about the correct way for idle setting…we tried to do that but when we tried to set the base idle setting for the car it will die down when i’m going down hill…so we increased the idle which until now solve the problem…

well,i might as well replace the carb and see if there is a difference.

That engine does not use a carburetor, it’s actually fuel injected. As I said the idle should never be adjusted. If there is an idle issue then it’s likely something else caused it. Look for the cause and address that. Adjusting the idle is only a band aid that’s not likely to be a permanent fix.
