Hey guys! Few things. New member, first car, first standard, 21 year old car.
Sounds like fun right? I just bought it today and got it towed to the shop for inspection and assessment. It passed with some minor discrepancies.
– Brake pads need changed
– Rear struts probably won’t last much longer (Fronts are 2 years old)
– Rear bumper needed to be fastened (already taken care of)
It’s a single family car, bought new in late 1991, indoor parked all year for 17 years, given to relative in 09 and that’s when a LOT of major work was done. Lots of documentation. Looks like an alright car. No major rust either which is a bonus.
Basically I’ll just be keeping this thread updated as I start getting my hands into it. I don’t have major landmarks to shoot for. I plan to work from the inside out and get the car in 100% condition before looking at a potential colour change and some upgrading.
Wish me luck, and any advice on these second gens would be greatly appreciated!
I am seeing a tiny bit of water in the rear trunk area. I’ve concluded it is the hatch seal and/or the right side tail-light. Thoughts?
Also, I have the infamous leak to the passenger floor under the carpet, that will probably be first project. Doesn’t look like it’s too bad.
Oh, the car has 248k, it’s an RS, and has the factory tape deck, intake, wheels, etc. The windshield has been replaced at some point (no documentation, surface rust developing where glass seats) Other than that, zero paintwork, one dent, and some curb cash.
Not a bad way to waste 600 bucks.
