Had a Radio put in my 1992 318is Bmw recently. Tech said I needed another ground for the Radio ( he’s the Tech ) so I said go ahead.
On the way home the cluster started blinking and by the time I get home I had a rotten egg and sulphur smell when I got home. I looked around under the hood and found it was coming from the trunk. Battery was leaking acid and the Battery was smoking and was hot. I let the car cool but the Battery stayed hot!
Replaced the battery three times to the same out come. What do you think?

Sounds like the battery is being overcharged or something wrong with the radio install.
Was this problem there before the radio install?

Test battery voltage with the engine running. I suspect you will find something significantly higher than the 14 or so volts that should be there. At that point, I would say have the alternator tested OFF the vehicle to determine if the problem is the alternator it’s self, or a wiring issue caused by the radio install.
