Hey guys kind of new but I could really use some help on my car. I have a 1991 Doge spirit, with a inline 4, 2.5 liter engine with a 3 speed auto trans. It has about 85000 miles on it but doesn’t run great. I’ve done a few things to it, basic stuff like changing oil, filters and timing. It is fuel injected with a throttle body. Does anyone know if it has an idea screw or a air fuel mix screw? If so where at?

If its fuel injected. The mixture is computer controlled. As
for the idle I would imagine the same. What issues are you having?January 21, 2014 at 6:47 pm #576673I’m not really having any issues from the idle, other then the repair manual says it should idle around 700 RPMS and mine stays around 400 or 500. The main reason for asking is beceuse I like to play around with my car and try and get a little more power out of it. Plus I’m always trying to find something to do to my car that won’t cost much money.
January 21, 2014 at 9:03 pm #576683if the idle is that low. check your IAC idle air control.
You may need to remove and clean it + the pssages.January 21, 2014 at 10:31 pm #576691Where is the IAC?
January 21, 2014 at 10:59 pm #576695I should have said this before but not 100% sure that its fuel injucted. I don’t see a fuel rail anywhere. Anyway ways that I could find out?

see if this helps.you may want to clean the throttle body also.If it has a
throttle body its fuel injected.January 23, 2014 at 2:13 am #576929With ‘modern’ vehicles, there really isn’t a whole lot of room for adjustment, especially ‘cheap’ adjustments to add more power. Modern vehicles are engineered within an inch of their lives. Everything is computer controlled to provide maximum power and efficiency. It’s a balancing act really. That said, the only way to get more power is to spend more money and reprogram the computer to work with the upgrades.
As for the idle, check the basics. I cover those basics in this article.

January 26, 2014 at 6:24 am #577616So I had the day off work and I was planing on doing some work on the car after I got home form my girl friends. But turns out that my car does not need any work just a junk yard now. My head gasket blew. Lots of smoke, and not the good kind. Thank y’all for all the help but the idle is not a problem anymore. I am sure to keep the car as just something to play with in the weekends or not.
