I went to start my car this morning and it would start for a minute and then die. My gas gauge is a little off, so I thought I must be out of gas. Walked to the station, got gas, put it in and now when I turn the key, it does absolutely nothing.. no click, no nothing. it’s like I have my car in drive and am tring to start it. What do you think is going on?

ok eric has a whole thing on starting issues on the website in the beginning you can try that too… but your car simply will not start anymore? but it was running just stopped?
do you have a security light on? sometimes on the GM cars the security system acts up disabling the starter, and the fuel system but usually it does not stop the car from running it just usually prevents the car from starting
what is the status of your battery and its connections?
when you plug a scan tool in or go through diagnostic process do you get any codes?
January 14, 2014 at 11:21 pm #575069Here’s what happened. The car was running fine. Parked and went in to a business for about an hour and when I came out, it acted like it was out of gas. It would turn over, but putter out. So I let it roll back into a parking space, went and got gas, put it in and it did NOTHING. A security light is flashing. But I thought, even with that flashing, it would at least TRY to start, but would not turn over because of the security blocking the starter? Please help! I have to be able to get to work and stuff. Thanks! No way to put it on a diagnositic- is there a way to check the codes manually?
January 14, 2014 at 11:23 pm #575071Battery is fine. Connections are fine. Won’t take a jump. It does nothing when you try. No noises at all.
January 15, 2014 at 2:10 am #575125see if this helps.
January 15, 2014 at 8:43 am #575277I already found that and tried it. The only code I got was E52 and that is probably because I disconnected the battery to see if that would do anything. This just doesn’t make any sense. One minute it is turning over and acting like its out of gas and the next minute, after putting gas in it, it won’t do anything….nothing. No clicking. All the relays are good. All the fuses are good. Battery is good. Tried tapping on the starter and that did nothing. Checked all the wires from the battery to the starter and found nothing unusual. There’s some kind of sensor to the transmission, I can’t remember the name, but it reads what gear you are in??? Does the fact that I let it roll backwards in neutral about 15 feet in order to get it into a parking space, has any bearing on the problem I am having now? I just can’t believe that it would be something major. Nothing happened to cause it to have a starting problem that i KNOW of. Thanks for any help anyone can give. Has this never happened to anyone else?
January 15, 2014 at 8:49 am #575279The security light blinks when you turn the key to off. Is that normal?
January 15, 2014 at 8:58 am #575283I work on dodge jeep chrysler ram and when the security light blinks that means the security is active and the vehicle on most models will start then die your vehicle probably has a different system but id deff suspect that security system
January 15, 2014 at 10:03 am #575295the security system on most GM vehicles does several things too prevent a vehicle from starting, disables the starter, disables the fuel injectors… so your car will not crank over it will do nothing not a click, and even if it did it probably would not fire. on later versions of your car they have a display that says the security system is disabling the car from starting, its possible that the blinking security light in your car is telling you that.
now weather your issue has to do with the security system or not i am not sure, but it makes some sense, you say the car does not even try too crank over? not even a click? these security systems go out on these cars all the time… bad news is it can be a expensive fix… your kea may have a chip on it, make sure that chip on your kea is clean and is not dirty… sometimes the resistor pellets even if they are wet will cause issues.

as he just stated, missed this.
January 16, 2014 at 12:29 am #575377Okay, so how do I disable the security system? What if I purposely trigger the alarm and then disable it with my key? Just a thought.
