      1991 Accord DX

      It will be 40 degrees out side, and the car will have been off for over 30 minutes. Then the cooling fan will kick on.

      Any idea what to check?

      Sometimes it will kick on in the early morning (2 am).

        I would be looking at the coolant temp sensor and I believe there
        is a sensor for the ac.do both fans run or just one? here is a link
        for a wiring diagram.

            I have seen on older acura models a failing fan timer that can cause this. Its probably similar on your accord. I believe those are located under the the drivers side of the dash to the left of the steering column. Check out this similar post I found. Good luck!

                Anytime you have cooling issues on a Honda the first thing to do is check for air in the cooling system. If you’re sure that there isn’t any and you still have the same issue you described the fan timing might not be a bad thing to check. They are a known issue on Hondas.
