I just recently purchased a 1990 Volvo 240DL for $400. It runs good when it wants to stay running. It has a new alternator and battery and also recently had a tune up. All of the electrical connections are good but I have noticed that I will start it up and it will die on me after about a minuet. Then I have to jump it to get it started again. But after I disconnect the battery that I used to jump it, it dies. But I noticed that when I disconnect the negative terminal on my battery but leave the jumping battery connected it stays running. Mind you the battery I use to jump my car is just a spare battery we have and is not hooked up to another vehicle. So what I’m wondering is if my battery is just not taking a charge. I put it on a slow charge for the night and I will see what it does tomorrow. But if any one has any other ideas I would greatly appreciate it.
