This is my first post on here. Hoping to get some help!

So, I’ve got a 1990 Cadillac Seville. I didn’t have heat last winter, and this winter I’ve just about had enough. So, I started my diagnosis:
      1. Checked my coolant level. It was low. So, I filled up the overflow and topped off the radiator. Still no heat.
      2. Bled the air out of the system. I had absolutely no air come out besides 2 tiny bubbles. But I think I did that when I moved the funnel. Still no heat.
      3. Checked my heater control valve. On this car it happens to be just a plastic “T” where three heater hoses come together and it has a restrictor in one leg. As long as that restrictor is facing the right direction, there’s nothing else I can do with that. So, I moved on.
      4. Blend door operation, works fine.
      5. Blower motor works on low and high.
      6. Thermostat is operational. As well as the cooling fan.
      7. Both inlet and outlet tubes for the heater core are warm.

I don’t seem to have any problems with my system. I still don’t have heat and I’m at a loss.

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction as to what to do next.

      Thanks for reading!

        Perhaps a restriction …
In one or both of hoses (replace if needed)
In the heater control valve (flush or replace)
In the core itself? (flush or replace)

        Other possibilities ..
Poor circulation from the water pump
Coolant restriction with in the engine to the heater core.

Flow seems to be good. All the hoses are hot when the car is warm. Unless they can be warm and get bad flow? I have yet to come across that. I think I’ll flush my core next. The HCV is just an open tube. It’s all clear. There isn’t anything to flush.

You said you checked the Blend door motor but perhaps the door itself in the Evap case is broken and not moving even though the motor is

That’s a good point. I’ll have to take it apart and take a look. Thanks!

My hat is off to you sir. You’ve followed a very logical approach to the problem and have covered many of the bases already.

I’m with the other poster about checking the blend door directly. It sounds like everything else is working. That would be a logical place to start in my opinion.

Thanks for the link! I’ve followed your no heat videos advice for the most part. Looks like blend door first and if that’s operational and mechanically sound, I’ll be flushing and if need be, replacing the core. Thanks for the help everyone!
