Hey everyone. I own a 1990 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency Brougham that came from the factory with a really cool (and ahead of its time) computer in the dash called the Driver Information System/Center that has buttons for MPG read outs (which were surprisingly accurate) gallons of fuel used, oil life, etc. Well long story short, I took it to a mechanic to diagnose another issue with the vehicle (turned out to be a bad catalytic converter) but when I picked the vehicle up the DIS seemed to be disconnected, because all the screen shows is -40F coolant temperature, 0 battery voltage, and zeros on all of the other readouts. I know this isn’t a major thing and I can still drive the car as is, I just got used to having this cool feature and would like to have it work again.
Before anyone asks, all of the gauges on the dash are showing proper readings, implying that the coolant temperature sensor is still operational and all of the sensors for oil pressure/battery voltage/fuel are still working as well.
If anyone has any knowledge about these driver info systems and how the connect/disconnect i’d love to hear from you.
Thanks in advance,
Mike
