I’m gonna be working on a 1990 civic 1.5. I just need to know what the exhaust and intake valve lash is supposed to be. I suck at trying to find crap like this on the internet.

Not to sound like a smart-A$$ but you should check under the hood…

This is not for the car you described by the way… just an example…

I did look under the hood. The sticker had been partially removed.

If the sticker isn’t there you’ll have to track down a service manual. You can sometimes find them online pretty reasonable.

That said, I don’t remember for sure but I think it might be 0.010 intake and 0.018 exhaust. I’m not 100% on those numbers though.

Lastly, valve adjustments can be tricky if you don’t have experience with them. In fact, if you get it wrong you could damage the engine. I would only recommend you adjust the valves if they’re noisy. If they’re not noisy, I’d leave them alone.

Ok. I was changing his valve cover gasket and figured I’d check the valve lash while I’m in there, since it’s a regular service item. They aren’t making any noise though so I guess I’ll leave them alone.

Honda has revised valve adjustments to ‘only when noisy’. They no longer list service intervals for them.
