Hello forum,
My question is regarding the removal and block off, of the EGR Valve on my 1990 integra obd-0.
I looked up the code for the flashes on my ecu and it came up with the code (12 I think) for a fault in the EGR system, so I removed and inspected the valve and it seems that theres a slight tear causing the diaphragm to leak (quarter of a
century old – not bad at all Honda). the gasket is also worn and might be leaking exhaust gas (which I think I can smell after a drive).
a replacement new is $200 and $50 used.
I wanted to opt for an EGR delete block off plate as recommended for a performance increase, but I heard it will impact my MPG (not a big deal) and have adverse effects on back pressure, my buddy who’s also been tuning and modifying Honda’s for over 15 years said it’s safe to delete, but I would really appreciate more input on EGR valve removal pros / cons.Especially on Honda’s.
Thanks for reading!
