Well I picked up a winter beater, it ran good. When I got it the idle was normal about 800RPM, felt like it needed spark plugs and might be lacking power.(not sure tho, I drive a G6 with a 3.5 V6. this just a small 4 banger.)

So I changed the plugs out with NGK, Gapped to .040, anti-szie on the threads. now the car will idle at 900RPM for a second, then go up to 2000rpm, in a few seconds it will go to 3000RPM. if I put it in gear it will hold at 1500RPM. I did find a broken Vac line on the dizzy actuator, repaired and checked for more. None found, tried water, carb cleaner, and propane. To see if there is a vac leak, didn’t find any.

Cables move freely, nothing hanging up. IDK, I am not very familiar with the old vac/carb systems. this has over 100 vac lines, and its 26 years old. got to have a leak somewhere.

      so any ideas?

Sounds like a vac leak. See if this helps.

I am a idiot, I am thinking fuel injected cars. the car “kicks” down with a tap on the gas, when warm and idles at 900rpm when hot on the next “kick” tap. maybe the “kick down” is sticky. going to spray the linkages down.

          I don’t like carb’ed cars now.
