      hi newbie hear

I have a dodge pickup with rear wheel anti lock that is malfunctioning. long story short i had some rear end seal/ breather issues and while i had it apart i decide might aswhel do a rear brake job. i replaced everything but the drums. but now my rear wheels lock right up and the front doesn’t lock up at all (testing on gravel). plus i bled it 3 times but my pedal is still spongy. i heard that the RWAL hydraulic valve can cause problems. i was wondering if i can bypass it and use a proportioning valve….also do need a pro valve. i found out the truck has a hold off valve aswell what is its function and do i need this as well

I don’t think you have an ABS problem at all. I would remove the rear drums and completely go over your work making sure the long shoe is at the back with the shorter shoe to the front. Make sure the wheel cylinder push rods are contacting the shoes. Be sure that the park brake cables are fully released. The levers should barely be visible behind the brake shoe.

If you’re sure everything is done right replace the drums one at a time and adjust the star wheel until there is a slight drag on the drum. Do one side at a time removing the drum before adjusting the other.
