i guess this could go for any front sway bar technically, but should you be able to grab a sway bar and move it side to side? my toyota has sloppy steering and i thought maybe that was why but im not sure. any ideas?

p.s, all mounting brackets for the sway bar are tight and rubber grommets/bushings are in place. B)

maybe some one else can speak to your specific vehicle and sway bar set up, but if your sway bar end links or whatever are shot, consider that you tie rod ends are probly shot too and u do in fact have sloppy steering.

I would say no to being able to grab the sway bar and move it side to side.
The sway bar should be rigid.check sway bar end links.

If your steering is sloppy it is another front end part. Try the idler arm, pitman arm, center link, and tie rod ends for play. Earlier style steering boxes are also prone to leaking and gears wearing.

I ran no sway bar for years and had no ill effects even on a lifted truck. Steering slop is elsewhere.

In agreement with above post to look for worn steering components.

regarding the sway bar, lok at the bushings and the brackets that hold the bushings. Even if the end links were worn/broken tje bushings should hold it firm enuf to not move. Conversely even if the end links are good, if something was really wrong with both bushings, then the endlinks would probly allow enuf play to move the bar back and forth.
