      I have been thinking about putting headers with dual pipes on my gf’s 1987 Iroc Camaro 5.7 multipoint fuel injected. She currently has the stock exhaust with one o2 sensor. I was wondering what size pipes I should go for, and can I use the stock o2 sensor? Of course I could put the o2 sensor in the “H” pipe, but since the exhaust will be cooler because of the headers would the o2 sensor be thrown off?

        that is a great mod.

        2.5″ 2.75″ should be plenty, and just leave the o2 sensor in the header, buy a set that has a port for one.

          The car is only set up for one o2 sensor though, so I can’t put one in each header. I could put it in the ‘H” pipe but I don’t know if the stock o2 sensor will have problems because of the different exhaust temp.

            i think if you order headers for the specific application it will only come with 1 o2 port. and i dont think it would matter if you moved it, dont quote me on that though.

              The “H” pipe would be too far away in my opinion. You want to mount it as close to the engine as you can as the O2’s operating temp is 600ºF. I’d be surprised if the headers you purchase don’t have provisions for an O2 sensor in the collector which is what I would recommend. Of corse you would only read through one bank which can be an issue however those older systems weren’t that good to begin with so you should be fine for the most part running one sensor.
