This is the bigger project. The Accord dosnt need tinkering as much as this 305 Carburetor V8..
It’s also a learning experience. I have never worked on a carb and they dont even teach it in school anymore.

It has 121500km, or 75k miles. It’s solid.

So far im having an issue where, on the first start up of the day, itll idle rough and spit out carbon, and then after a bit itll get on that high idle and itll be fine the rest of the day but it never really “idles”. Otherwise, it always starts up right away (aside for the first one of the day when i have to prime it with the gas pedal)

Any help or suggestions would be apreciated. I have no idea what i’m doing. Bought the car to learn how to fix it.

Here’s some pics for your viewing pleasure.

The biggest problem with carburetors is trying to explain what needs to be done. I believe by what you say the choke vacuum brake needs adjusting or replacement. There are several you tube videos on that subject.

Check em out. Maybe they will help you.

I used to love those cars. They ride, handle, and are very comfy inside.

Any carbed gm motor of a similar year should be the same. I used to have an ’86 GMC pick-up with the 305. They’re a total mess of vacuum lines, mostly all running emissions stuff haha.

I’ve more-or-less grasped the Honda’s vacuum maze, so i think i’ll be fine as far as a carbed 305.. im just not familier with it at all yet.
I did, however, look up videos, but i dont have any other updates cos it’s been gray and rainy out..even so much as thundering. It’s supposed to be nice out on the week-end, so it may be a day to work on my cars!
