      Hey guys,

New to the forum here, looking for some advice on my recently purchased Toyota.

      1985 Toyota Pickup 4×4, Fuel-Injected, 2.4L 4-cly 22RE
      130k – 150k on engine (speedometer broken)
Everything on the engine is stock

      Here’s the situation

      -bought truck 2 weeks ago
-ran great and was very quiet
-few days ago the timing chain guide broke
      -replaced timing chain and guide
-adjusted the valve clearance to spec
-noticed when doing the chain that the cylinder head had been resurfaced by the previous owner, probably too much shaved off because there is now some slack in the timing chain
-now the truck sounds terrible, has bad blowby, and it seems like its running hot
-did compression test – all 4 cylinders were very high, almost 30-40 psi higher than they are out of the factory
      -changed spark plugs and oil

Haven’t driven it in a few days, I’m worried something bad may happen.

Here is a video of a cold start I took yesterday:

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

You mentioned the chain guides were worn and you replaced the timing chain guide and chain, but did you replace the chain tensioner?

The tensioner should keep that chain nice and snug…
