My truck idle really rough and sometimes stalls, i have put a new carb on it and set it with a dwell meter and i have checked timing and put a new harmonic balance, new cap and rotor, new spark plugs and wires, it runs alot beter if i run high octane fuel in it, it really likes 100 octane unleaded race fuel.

well i will be rebuilding the carb this weekend but need some pointers on tuning it, i order a tuning kit also, the carb is a edelbrock performer 750cfm, this will be my first rebuild and tuning

When installing a new carb it’s important to set up the mixture screws properly. I normally warm the engine, hook up a vacuum gauge, and set them at the highest vacuum I can get at idle. Every once in a while I snap the throttle and recheck my reading. If you still have issues, you may need to go to larger jets for the e10 fuel.

          Keep us posted.

I presume that it is a Holley carburetor. Those carbs (If OEM) are finicky to say the least. There are many tips I can think of but the most important thing is not to over tighten the float bowl screws. Over tightening will warp the metering plates and the engine will never idle correctly. A drop of oil on the fuel transfer tube “O” rings will help make it easier to install the float bowls. Most rebuild kits come with several internal gaskets so make sure you match the new ones exactly with the old ones.
