This car has been mentioned before by Blazerguy1983. It has the Oldsmobile 307 v8 paired to the 200-4r transmission. The car just turned 57,000 miles and was originally an elderly couples car. It was sold to my friends grandfather in 2008ish. Was driven very little since them, I would say from what I see 1000 miles from 2008-2009. Then was given to my friend for graduation in 2009. From which point it was driven about 100 miles sitting most of the time outside in his rear driveway. In the 2 years leading up to me buying the car it was driven to be inspected in 2013 and was parked until 2015. Totaled 20 miles in that time. Drove the car after replacing the brake lines to get it inspected with my friend. Drove fine all the way to get inspected without any problems other then a check engine light. Diagnosed that as a mixture control solenoid in the carb. Drove car after picking up from inspection a total of 15 miles back to his house and when climbing hills on a back road the car began to have issues shifting into 2nd gear. It will shift if let coast into second on a hill, or if accelerating lightly. However if you tried to merge or climb incline it will pause then slam into second mostly after letting off gas. Shifts into all other gears without issues. I attempted to adjust the TV cable in hopes that was causing the issues only to make it worse. After much playing around with the TV adjustment it now is back to the original problem.

Bought the car and drove it about 2000 miles now and problem has not gotten any worse, just stays the same.

Previous person said it was not the original tranny because it has an electric lockup connector for torque converter. Car has harness hanging down next to connector and the numbers match the car. Recently connected the plug and car stalled each time I came to a stop, however it finally was locking in over drive.

-Changed the fluid and filter at 54,600 miles ish, now has 57,000, *shifts fine when its cold now*
      -Fixed mixture control solenoid
-Do to stall problems, replace Lockup solenoid, fluid and filter. Now locks up and doesn’t stall.

The fluid on both changes looks normal, has some signs of friction material but no large chunks and doesn’t burn the fluid. Once I replaced the lockup solenoid it now seems to have more pull and stronger grip *could be more fresh fluid*

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m gonna say I believe you have a leaking/slipping issue due to it shifts
good cold when fluid is thicker. Then leaks/slips when warm.

Leaking as in leaking fluid/pressure in valve body? The tranny has no leaks on exterior, holds fluid level. I have felt slips before, my old 90 Grand Prix had a slip in tranny that would cause the revs to jump like neutral. This doesn’t feel like a slip, just feels like it is slightly engaging the gear then it locks in. Now I’m by no means an expert, and that’s why I’m on here to talk to experts. I have a basic understanding on how it all works and it just feels like a pressure issue of some sort. I have been spending night after night just trying to learn as much as I can about this tranny and its issues. Was wondering if anyone thought maybe it could be a problem with a seal on the 2nd gear shift servo? Just feels like maybe it was dry from sitting for years then when it was being used and functioning the seal got damaged causing issues? I have a YouTube and I want to try and post a video with it showing the issues. Both my brother “blazerguy1983” and myself have videos of it on our YouTube but it doesn’t really show the issue. His channel is “blazerguy1983” and mine is “90blackgrandprix”. Thanks for any more info if any someone can give me.

Slipping/leaking internally. If clutches or valve body is not letting the correct pressure
to the proper clutch or valve position it will affect clamping force.
