      on the Chevy 2.8L V6 (1983, with 2 barrel carb) is it absolutely necessary to remove the distributor before removing the intake? It doesn’t pass through the intake, so I’m wondering does it have to come out first? Has anyone worked on these engines before and know if its absolutely required? Id prefer not to if I don’t have to.

        Did one in a Chevy blazer, Didn’t have to remove it. But did anyway to make sure it didn’t get hit and broken. If your worried about knocking it out of time take a tube of white out and put a mark on the cap and the engine block and align them back up when putting back in.
