Well you wanted a Fairmont video. I thought this might work as a good start to the series. What are your thoughts?

I believe another reason would be economics. If I’m not mistaken, Ford was almost bankrupt in the late 70’s early 80’s. Retooling just wasn’t in the budget.
March 19, 2014 at 10:30 pm #581492I can’t wait to watch your videos as you go. If you do a kickstarter and I have some extra lying around, I’ll definitely try to help out as you’ve helped me in the past.
While watching this, I was amazed actually how much was similar to our Suburban (1991 V2500). Woo for the last year of an ancient model. Obviously some differences, but nothing like when comparing to the new vehicles. Totally loved the drink/tape holder, I’m only 28 and remember those in the family cars.
If you ever make it to southern CA for a car show, I’ll be there if I still live here.
Good luck
P.S. In your videos section, you should make a separate tab for “Fairmont”

I actually hope to drive it around when I’m done and SoCal would be a nice place to visit. I might just take you up on that.
BTW I have started a new playlist for the Fairmont videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2I0c-jJa14&list=PLSzhQ6St-ov2nxWVKCeU14Vt7JJ_QSZvs
Thanks for your suggestions.

December 31, 2014 at 10:51 am #643101Can you do a 4 speed on the column to keep the stock look while adding a manual transmission?

I have a video of my plans for the car that will be coming out in the next month or so.
December 31, 2014 at 9:29 pm #643173I have done 3 Foxbodys. Don’t waste time with an IRS. Get an 8.8 from a later model stang with a locker. Use a C4 Trans and a 351 Windsor with a carburetor. A modular swap is an ugly proposition and expensive as heck. AOD tranmissions are expensive garbage and I once removed one and put a 5 Speed tremec instead. C4 with LOOSE coverter better option. There is a kit to put a 460 in a fox, but its unusual. Whatever the case, the car has lots of potential, but much of the early fox running gear is small and needs to be swapped out with bigger stuff.

I think when you seen my video about the build you’ll see that we are very much on the same page. Thanks for your input.
January 1, 2015 at 12:31 am #643225clean as a pin Fairmont. I’ve done a couple in the past. I also am in the middle of an 80 T-bird project. 56k miles, 302 c-4, 7.5…etc… anyways, I enjoyed the video! I was looking for a Fairmont when I stumbled on this T-bird. Can’t wait to see the video with your plans for this one.
