Hi Eric
I have just changed the hydraulic lifters on my Chrysler 265 Hemi (in-line 6). Installation went well and the valve train works as it should. While I was setting the preload on the rocker arms I used the starter to turn the engine over as there was no crankshaft hex bolt to turn by hand.
I disconnected the coil but halfway through I noticed the negative primary wire had wrapped itself around the distributor rotor while I was jerking the starter motor. I have unwound the intact wire but the rotor won’t spin now when starter activated. Engine cranks with good compression but no fire. Rotor itself looks okay so I’m picking I’ve damaged the drive gear or something. What part of the distributor could have been damaged? Look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks for your time.
Jivan
