Can a coil be bad even if it’s showing 12 volts at pos. and neg. post . I ask because I am not getting any ohm reading on the two post at any ohm setting just zero. When I check the high voltage tower I get 8,000 ohms and 2 different sources have two different perimeters for the readings ,but according to the two 8,000 is still low . So I’m wondering if my coil is bad. My points are open and closing, cap and rotor and points are new .Points are set at .016 . When I crank the engine (KEY ON) 12 volts going to coil , no spark at the plugs . The point plate in the distributor is internally grounded . 12 volts going from ignition switch to one side of ballast resistor. Driving me nuts to say the least .. Trying to find an auto store to check my coil with a machine is non-exsistant . I appreciate any and all help and Thank’s in advance.
