I’ve tried a few socket rails and can’t find anything HD enough to handle my impact sockets…want something good enough I can pull out of the garage and find the right fit w/o sockets falling all over the ground. Right now I have them on a plastic Snap-On rail that works well until ya get up to the heavier ones like 20mm or so.

The metric one is gray and goes 10-27mm, but this has the better picture. You can get this off tool trucks, at Sears, or mail order. Lisle makes them. They are pretty tough and a full rack can be carried around easily. I also use these because they capture the sockets without anything to snap into, so there’s no pulling on anything or needing 2 hands or a special grip technique to pick them off the tray. Downside is that if you invert or drop the tray, they fall off, but that’s reasonable for me.

Have seen those around but have not really been attractive for chromes but can see it for my impacts. Do they lock in or just pretty much rest on the bar? Would like to have something that locks in but can live w/o that if needed. My set right now is pretty much in all directions bought an original set but after getting my Neon found myself buying special sizes in both short and deep throat.

What I have is a Mac Tools SH4448, Vim makes it for them and can be found under Vim V444. This allows full customization it is 4 rails per handle you can find the clips for them everywhere and they hold relatively well. The down side is they can slide about and if you don’t put a screw or bolt at the end of the rail and you carry it by the handle they can fall off especially on a long walk. They also take up slightly more space and there is no labeling system. Though I wanted them just to be simple be able to stand all the chemicals in the shop and be easily fixed. You can also see it if you go to 3:04 in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xalZMWVht_g&list=PL-gZT3I9va10sky455aZ2UjpvLNmNK3sm&index=2 you can see the full set of 299 chrome sockets on these at 4:33 on the part 3 video.

You should be able to find something similar to the above almost anywhere. I use the peg style in my tool box at work because it’s easy to see if somethings missing. But I think you might want something like this: http://www.mactools.ca/en-ca/Tool-Storage/Tool-Storage-Accessories/MTS12X6/Magnetic-Tool-Organization-Panels-12-x-6-MTS12X6

              Or this: https://store.snapon.com/Magnetic-Socket-Trays-Tray-Socket-Magnetic-Red-3-8-Drive-Sockets-28-compartments-P630901.aspx

              Maybe this: https://store.snapon.com/Magnetic-Socket-Holders-Holder-Socket-Magnetic-Shallow-Deep-3-8-drive-Black-P646918.aspx
