I wanted to drain and fill my coolant for the winter but had a couple of questions about the coolant type. I know that Honda makes it’s own brand of coolant now and in my owners manual it says to put in that type of coolant when changing, but I was under the impression that it was blue, and there is green coolant in my radiator now and I’m unaware of the type of coolant in there. I was just wondering if the blue and green would mix or should I just get some universal coolant to put in there?

Also does pulling the lower radiator hose off the engine drain the block as well? Just wondering.

      Thanks!

I believe it is the blue coolant. If it has the green you can go
back with green. otherwise you will need to flush all the green out
and add blue. The block will not be drained by removing the lower hose.

Green and blue will mix. I’ve found the blue to be better however. That said, don’t worry about draining the block. If you change the coolant on a somewhat regular basis, you don’t need to worry about getting every drop out.

BTW If you want to drain the block there should be a plug on the side of the block you can remove to drain it.

Just be sure to bleed the system when you’re done. If not, then cooling system issues will result.
