Hey, my mother’s heat is not working. The air comes out slightly warm, not cold like when I move the temp knob to cold. When moving the temperature knob it sounds like everything is working fine in the dash. The vehicle is not running too hot or too cold and the antifreeze was only slightly low. I felt of the heater core hoses and the one going in is hot but the one coming out is slightly warm. I’m thinking this is either an air in the line or a blocked heater core. What do you all think? Should I bleed the system before I try to unblock anything? And this car doesn’t have a radiator cap that I can see. The overflow tank is pressurized. Do I bleed the system the same way?

I would try and remove any air first before the heater core. With the car cold remove the over flow cap
and start the car. here is the procedure.

Fill with coolant until it is to the proper mark .

Does the car have a control / valve that regulates the flow of coolant through the radiator core ?

I’m not sure if it has a control valve or not. But, I got the heat working. I bled the air out of the coolant tank. It took about 10 minutes of running then it got kinda crazy. I guess the thermostat opened and coolant came rushing up and out of the tank along with a bunch of air. I quickly shut off the car and could hear a bunch of air gurgling. I waited a few minutes and started it back up and didn’t see anything else happen. The heat is working much better now. Does anybody know what caused the coolant to pour out of the tank like that?

Does it always happen so violently? This spilled out a lot of coolant. And thanks everybody for the help. My mom loves having heat again.

When the t-stat opens heated coolant has to go somewhere.
