I am going to change the spark plugs on my 07 Nissan Versa 1.8L SL hatchback.
The intake manifold is sitting on top of the engine. I need to remove the intake manifold in order to access the spark plugs.
This is more work compared to my 91 Civic and 06 Accord. What was Nissan engineer was thinking during the design to put the intake manifold on top of engineer?

Anyone had removed the intake manifold?
Is the intake manifold gasket reusable?
If not, I will get a new gasket before starting.

What spark plugs were used in Nissan Versa?
Any spark plug recommendation will be appreciated.
      TIA.

I have a Nissan Versa and have always wondered the same things. Does that mean the engine is mounted 90 degrees different (turned on it’s side)?

They could have done that to save space. The hood isn’t very long but it is tall compared to say a civic or accord, so that would explain how they crammed 15 pounds of s*** into that 5 pound bag. I think the Honda Fit is the same way.

        Haven’t done the job myself.

The design costs more to service. I was quote C$350 to replace spark plugs.

I’m not sure but you may be able to access the plugs better from under the vehicle. Worth checking anyway. As for the type of plug used, it’s likely listed on the under hood sticker. If not, I would call the Nissan parts department to find out. I think they call for NGK but don’t quote me on that.

Good luck and keep us posted. Also post pics if you can.

Thank you Eric. The spark plug cannot be access from below. I think that Nissan is purposely design their car this way to discourage the DIYer like me from messing around the car. They almost succeed until I found this easy to follow video/slide show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7p2v7Rh0ds.
