I replaced all the brakes and rotors, tried to bleed the system in the right rear caliper, the fluid only leaked out slowly while pressing the brake. I noticed that the front driver’s side caliper was not getting any brake fluid. I disconnected the brake line from caliper, and pressed on the brake pedal and only got maybe one drop of fluid. I disconnected the line from the ABS pump and blew air through it to make sure it wasn’t clogged. Air flowed freely. I reconnected the line and pressed the brake pedal, it went all the way to the floor, and still maybe one drop of fluid came out. The fluid level in the MC is full, so I am not losing fluid anywhere. I have pumped the brake pedal till my leg went numb, and nothing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I believe its called gravity bleeding. I have seen eric do it. while someone is applying pressure hold the valve open until fluid comes out.
as he stated sometimes gravity bleeding helps before you pump bleed the system, crack open all the bleeders and let it set, once fluid starts too flow from one close the bleeder, once fluid has flown from all the bleeders and you have closed all of them you have sort of semi primed the system…. now begin the whole pressure bleeding procedure working from the farthest point from the master cylinder in.
i have actually had to do this a few times.
You might have a lot of air in the master cylinder, or bad seals in the master cylinder.
I’m assuming you’re bleeding things the right way, with two people, one of them opening and closing the bleed valve at the right times.
Well all of this began when I replaced the brakes and rotors, it was stopping fine before. I didn’t open up the system, so i can’t figure out where air would’ve entered the system. I just cracked open the rear bleeder, and it seems that de pressured the whole system, because after that I couldn’t get much pressure on the brake pedal.
When you replace the brake pads, you have to push the caliper pistons way in and that disturbs the position of the pistons in the calipers and in the master cylinder. All that motion disturbs the positioning of the seals, and now the seals are positioned over parts of the cylinders that have not been recently used. Those flexed seals and those cylinder spots may not seal so well anymore. Also if you undo any joint, that removes the residual pressure and the seals can unflex and let in air. Happened to me many a time. You mess with the brake pads and then the master cylinder doesnt work so well anymore, or it swallows a lot of air.
Maybe I should have mentioned that the brakes had been replaced approx. 1 month ago, and I was replacing the rotors this time, I did have to push the calipers an 1/8 of an inch this time. I do see your point. Thank you
