      Evening folks,

Just changed out my front struts on my 06′ Honda Civic. I purchased genuine Honda replacement parts as they were not much more expensive than the other options. I also followed the Honda repair manual to the letter.

I inspected the original pinch bolts (2) and noticed that neither one was cam shaped. I was fully expecting the top one to have an adjustment to it, however, they were both straight and identical so I just reused them and bolted everything back together. So, there’s no adjustment in this case for the alignment? Other than tie-rod ends, I don’t see anywhere on this thing where you could do any front end adjusting.

Took the car for a quick test drive around the block and noticed that everything is straight and true. I’m going to get the alignment checked on Monday anyways, however, I cannot see where I could have disturbed the alignment while doing this repair. Am I missing something?

There’s a lot of cars out there that don’t offer much beyond toe adjustment from the factory anymore. Your car does still have toe adjustment at the tie rods. It looks like you can get the eccentric bolts to make your camber adjustable, but get the car up on the alignment rack and get it compensated before you commit to buying the eccentric bolts. Typically, modifying the car to turn a factory nonadjustable angle into an adjustable angle is an upsell; even if all it is, is buying a weird bolt. You may not even need them, so use this as an opportunity to try and save yourself some money.

If you replaced the entire strut assembly including new springs, then you’d want to consider yet another alignment in a few months to account for the springs settling. Otherwise, if you used the original springs, just one alignment in the near future would suffice.
