I have removed by Alternator bolts and wiring but there is not enough room to bring it out.
Haynes manual suggest pulling oil dipstick tube which I did and still won’t fit. Grr.
A couple questions to follow The EGR sits immediately above ithe alternator and would give me the clearance I need. If I remove the EGR, is there any concerns for needing a computer adjustment when I put it back on and do I need to replace the thin metal gasket against the engine.
On the oil dip stick tube. Do I need to apply anything to the tube assembly before pushing it back in or does it just push strait back in and bolt back to block.

        Can’t say about your EGR.
But if the dipstick tube has a O ring …
Suggest you clean both it and the block opening and apply some silicone spray to the O ring to help with reinstalling it.

Block opening significantly difficult to get to due to engine congestion. I could definitely clean the dip stick tube. Would silicone paste work similar to spray and should I feel the tube seat or as long as bolt hole lines up in original place should it be good.

            Yes, paste will work.
You should feel it seat in place.

Removing the egr valve wont hurt, and the gasket you can reuse. If you are in doubt, you can spray it with a light coat of silver spray paint, but even that is probably unneeded.

Both awnsers helpful. Job done successfully. It is shame it seems the Haynes manual steered me wrong via the extraction but it is nice this forum is here to help.
