Right after i bought this car a little over a year ago i got that error and immediately had it checked. Everything was fine with the pressure. Ran fine for months and all of a sudden i have a couple seals blow. Valve gasket, oil pan gasket and rear crank shaft gasket.

Here come the questions. Will number for clarity.

1.) I ordered a new PCV Valve but it was just an L shaped hose. Is the valve inside? Or is there no actual valve?

2.) Would the PCV valve being faulty actually cause multiple oil leaks all at once?

3.) Anyone have experience changing the oil pressure sensor on this make of car? Not finding a lot of info or looking in the wrong places.

4.) Anyone ever heard of a push button starter causing the low oil pressure error? I didnt install the button but i do always use it. Will from now on just use the key but thoughts? This thread is why im asking. http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/2005-2010-mustang-gt-tech/131346-2005-mustang-gt-low-oil-pressure.html

Thanks for any help. Have asked all this over multiple forums and got very few answers. Hopefully i may get some here.

        1. you ordered or they gave you the wrong part – PCV valve is actually a valve
        2 .No
        3. in front of the oil filter

What more would you like to know? Bought it a year and half ago with 136k miles on it. First Mustang and always wanted one but also my first car in 5+ years.

Not a ton of issues atm. Tie rods and a wheel hub. And brakes as well.
Only other sort of major issue is possibly my evap canister is bad or something. Anytime i try to fill my tank the hose keeps shutting off. Still looking into that problem but have a new job where i have a company vehicle so only put maybe 20 miles a week on it now.

          Thanks for the reply.

I’ve never seen low oil pressure by itself cause multiple seal/gasket failures.

Theoretically, if the PCV is stuck closed, and the engine is experiencing moderate to severe “blow by”, (compression/combustion leakage past the piston rings), it’s possible that the crankcase can become over-pressurized, forcing oil past seals and gaskets. A compression test (dry and wet) as well as a leakdown test will give you a good idea of the internal mechanical condition of the engine. What do the plugs look like?

As for the oil pressure, it could be that you’re dealing with an overall worn out engine, and oil pressure is being lost at the crankshaft and/or the rod bearings. Could be due to high mileage, abuse, or the presence of combustion products in the crankcase diluting the oil and/or attacking the bearing surfaces. Wouldn’t be a surprising condition if things are worn when the rings are no longer sealing effectively.

Finally, the fuel fill issue is most likely a charcoal canister saturated with fuel, due to overfilling the tank. Sometimes, the condition will clear up after a few weeks or months, but there are no guarantees.

From what i could find the actual PCV valve is inside the valve cover. So i ordered the hose but now need to order the valve. My mistake.
Seems like these seals blew all at once. I take my car to a pretty trustworthy mechanic imo and this was there recommendation.

ENGINE OIL PAN GASKET;FULL SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGE;CRANKSHAFT REAR OIL SEAL ;VALVE COVER GASKET(S);CRANKSHAFT FRONT OIL SEAL ;TIMING CHAIN GASKET;PCV VALVE / HOSE.

So i had the oil filter adapter changed then and came back a month or so later to have the engine inspected (which they didnt charge me for) He brought me under the car and showed me everything. Biggest issue is the oil pan gasket but the drain plug is also stuck. Oil pans for this car seem like the holy grail and impossible to find. So this weekend im going to try to remove the plug and hopefully just replace it and the gasket.

Like i said he showed me the leaks and while they all should be taken care of the front oil seal and timing chain gasket are not horrible. The oil pan gasket then the rear oil seal are the worst but still not crazy bad. The valve cover gasket i can do myself.

The plugs are also on my list of things. Have not looked at them but assume they have never been changed. Could be wrong as the previous owner seemed to really care for this car. Had the transmission fluid changed and it was near perfect. No darkness or particles. Usually the trans is the missed part of the car for some reason.

Your trusted mechanic that showed you all these problems is correct you should change all of these things front and rear main seals are a must and I agree a leakdown test should be done to find out if the internals are sealing Strong or not at all have you found any foaming oil and checking the spark plugs can give you a great insite on what’s happening during detonation

Could you explain or simplify what a “leakdown test” is or involves? Since i read the post about the the push button reading low oil pressure errors i’ve used the key start and after 10+ times i havent gotten the error. Also used a ODB sensor and no errors.

Im dropping it off tomorrow and asked them to drop the lower oil pan, replace the gasket and take out the old drain plug and add the new i have. If need be re-tap it and go from there.

I have the luxury and disappointment of only driving this car on the weekends. So that is why im kind of lax about it. Serious issues but 10 miles a week shouldnt hurt it. (I check the oil level every weekend btw)

A leakdown test hooks up to your spark plug holes one at a time similar to a compression test but a leak down test floods motor with air so you can see and hear if you have leaks were you oil and water could be mixing or your antifreeze leaking by showing bubbles it also tell you if your leaking from exhaust and intake sides of motor you will hear hissing coming from either intake were your air filter inlet is or radiator or radiators expansion table if you don’t have a radiator cap you could hear it coming out exhaust pipe and even out of oil fill cap tube these are all locations that air would escape if your engine is leaking from seals

You can purchase one at harbor freight for 30 to 50 bucks
