I have an 05 Pontiac Montana. I replaced the front struts a couple months ago. In the last week or so, I have been hearing what appears to be a loud clicking noise from the front. It happens when I turn the wheel or hit bumps. I haven’t pin pointed the exact place, but it appears to be coming from the center of the vehicle. I can feel it on the gas pedal when it makes the noise. When I jacked up the car, and had someone move the steering wheel back and forth, it was hard to pin point the noise still, sounded like from the middle but the sound wasn’t that loud when it wasn’t being driven. I did notice that on my drivers side front tire, I put my hand on the 9 and 3 o’clock position that there was play in the wheel. Can anyone help me figure this out?? Thanks in advance!!

I would inspect both front axles. Clicking why turning left and right usually means trashed axles.

Is there an easy way to accurately conclude that before I tear the vehicle apart? Thanks!

I would find what is causing the play in the wheel first. Have someone shake the wheel while it is lifted up and look underneath to see what it is (ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearing..etc) Fix what you know is wrong, then try and duplicate the complaint to see if it still ahappens.

The most effective way to resolve this issue is to located exactly where the noise is coming from. Please take a look at the link below. Once you located the cause then you can replace the faulty part or parts associated.

Thanks for that video but i am going to go out on a limb and say “techhotline7” does not have this tool. This video should help out.
