I have an 05 Honda Civic EX 1.7 that can be difficult to start. When cranking the car it seems to turn over fine and the engine starts but skips and shudders for just a couple of seconds then it idles fine. This is the only issue i have found. There seems to be a pattern of cranking vs starting. If you just barley turn over till firing in will not start or if you hold over to long it will not start. Only cranking till just top speed and releasing the key will it start.

I have checked a few thing and looked for over a week for an article that could address my issue with no luck. I checked compression assuming maybe a blown head gasket. The values are 140, 130, 145, 145. Not loosing and coolant. There was a vacuum leak, found to be injector o-rings. They were replaced and still have the hard start.

Car history. The head gasket has been replaced on this vehicle. New CPS.

      Please help

It can actually still be a good number of things. Start with the basics and check spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, etc. If the basics do the job then great. If it doesn’t move to the next things to check which are the idle air control valve, cleaning the maf sensor, checking the o2 sensors, egr passages, pcv valve (should be part of the initial things actually). Check for white smoke in the exhaust and things like that as well. Let me know what you find and we can go from there.
