I was leaving work tonight and it’s five degrees fahrenheit out and I start the car and rolled the window down to say something to one of my co workers and when I went to roll it up it moved very slowly and stopped part way up. Then it wouldn’t go up or down so I tried opening and slamming the door to see if that did anything and it didn’t, so I went inside to see which fuse it would be and when I got back out I tried the switch again and it went up slowly. Then I got home and rolled it down to see if it was a fluke. And sure enough it did the same thing. So I went inside for five minuets or so and went back out and it went up. The window has been going up slowly since I got it. Could this be a motor issue or something? The passenger side window also goes up slow.

I didn’t hear the motor even turn on when I was trying it. I held the switch and tried to pull the window up and that did nothing. I don’t know if it’s the cold or if the motor is just on it’s way out.
I wouldn’t mess with it until weather gets warmer. Then remove the interior trim and lubricate the moving parts that raise and lower the glass. My Neon did the same thing and I ended up breaking the wire cable (which had rusted due to moisture inside the door and a lack of lubrication) because I kept trying to keep it moving the window up and down without lubricating the cable. Eventually the cable just broke where it was rusted and I had to replace the power window regulator. My new regulator came with a new motor, it could only be purchased as a unit as individual replacement parts were not available.
I haven’t done anything with it since the other night but I think it’s a motor issue not the regulator. When I hit the switch I heard the motor try to work but then it stopped. And when I tried it again there was nothing at all.

before you replace anything.check for 12v to the motor.Also
verify the window regulator is free moving and no broken parts. 🙂Today it was a little warmer out and I had to use the window and it was fine. So I think it was just the extreme cold that caused the issue.
