Have you checked the fuse? Also, what brand fuel pump was it? Also also, did you have to drop the tank? If so, you may have to check and make sure you didn’t put the wiring in a place where it rubbed against something it shouldn’t have, and damaged the insulation of the wiring causing a short.
February 17, 2012 at 11:00 am #434478Welcome to the forums.
You will also only get power to the fuel pump for a few seconds of vehicle cranking. If the vehicle does not start, the PCM will kill power to the pump.
How exactly are you checking for power? Did you look at some wiring diagrams? Can you hear the fuel pump prime the system when you tun the key to KOEO?
February 17, 2012 at 11:00 am #434479the pump was a ac deco. and my mechanic has puled the pump and the wiring looks ok. and you would think my mechanic would have looked at the fuse.
no i can not hear the pump prime. i checked at the plug in jack for the pump.February 17, 2012 at 11:00 am #434480Ok, so you had your mechanic replace the fuel pump? And now it’s not working? When you say you “checked at the plug in jack for the pump”, how did you check it? You may want to call your mechanic, and see if the shop will pay for a tow truck back to the shop, as it doesn’t sound like they fixed the problem. Assuming that he checked the wiring and fuse is a bad idea. Never assume bro.
I want you to understand that I’m not accusing you of anything. The biggest help you can give us on this forum is info. The more info you can give, the more help we can give. There is no judgement here. Just want to make sure I’m clear on that man. And welcome to the forums!
February 18, 2012 at 11:00 am #434481start from the fuse.then to the relay.then check for 12 volts at the fuel pump plug.If 12 volts is at the pump then something wrong in there. If no 12 volts
at the pump the problem is back at above mentioned. You may have to do a visual of the wiring. good luck and keep us posted.February 18, 2012 at 11:00 am #434482Do not forget to check for ground at the pump also. 12 volt + gets lonely with out it!
February 18, 2012 at 11:00 am #434483I think it’s important to verify that it’s the pump that isn’t working first so make sure that’s the issue and that it’s not related to an ignition problem so it might not be a bad idea to check for spark just for the heck of it. I would verify that it’s a fuel problem by doing a fuel pressure test to see if the pump is working, if it isn’t I would recommend going back and checking the installation after you verify that it’s getting the power and ground that it needs. Here is a video that I made about checking for fuel pump problems that might help.

March 15, 2012 at 11:00 am #434485Nice job man. Glad ya fixed it. If you would, change the traffic light to ‘green’ so this goes into the database for others to find with the search function.
Edit: You already changed the light. Double well done sir!
March 16, 2012 at 11:00 am #434486Thanks for posting the fix!
