First time poster, long time video watcher. This is going to be a doozy people. 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8. Airbag light on for a year now. I scanned it at auto parts store. The description was “No OCM Message” I want to say it was a B0082, but I could have the number wrong. I have tried to do research on the internet, couldn’t get a real definitive answer about this code. I know OCM stands for Occupant Classification Module. I remember when it was failing because the light would come on intermittently on different drive cycles then finally just stayed on. So I have looked through and printed wiring diagrams for the airbag system. Although Im unsure what this code is actually telling me? Does anybody have a Verus scan tool troubleshooter function, or access to Mitchell/Alldata, or any other diagnostic information who could look into this code for me and see how to diagnose it without tripping the airbags? I have been putting it off for awhile because I just can’t find anyone with information and would like to tackle this myself if I can. I have an idea that the OCM is bad but I don’t know how to verify component failure versus maybe a loose ground connection. I don’t know what the code is telling me and I don’t want to trip the airbags. I need a few starting steps to go after, I just don’t have the right information. Any help appreciated. I will standby for any information you may need. Thanks.

Your best bet would be to find the service manual troubleshooting section for the code. It would include step by step diagnosis. If you know where the module in question is, you can always access it and physically inspect it. It sounds like something that would be under the seat, so the module itself or the wiring may have fallen victim to physical damage.

Anything airbag related will be either sheathed in yellow, or have yellow connectors. If you do not know what your are doing, DO NOT TOUCH THEM!

You can get a 1 year subscription to Mitchell, which is owned by Snap-On, for about $30 that will cover you for 1 car.

I don’t have the money for that I’m trying to do a diagnosis. Yes I know the connectors for airbag system are yellow I know there is a way to check for power, ground, signal without activation of airbags i need to which wires to check. I have done a visual inspection as much as I can without disrupting anything there. I know the OCM module is under the passenger seat I can see it . No problems with the wires I can see. I also know that replacement might require recalibrating the weights in the seat which I would need a better scan tool and weights. I want to confirm that.
