I have a 2005 Accord 4 cylinder with 300,000+ miles on it (not a typo) that is producing a terrible jerk consistently at 2600-2700 RPM. Doesn’t matter if I gun it from a standstill running it up to that RPM or drive it gingerly through all the gears until it hits 2600 in 4th or 5th gear, 2600 is the magic number. Acts like it isn’t getting fuel or something.
Ran the code reader at AutoZone and it is kicking out the following codes along with recommended suggestions:
P1009 VTC advance malfunction
Possible Resolutions: Check VTC strainer for blockage; faulty VTC oil control solenoid or circuit; faulty VTC actuator; or engine mechanical conditionP2646 VTEC oil pressure switch circuit low voltage
Possible Resolutions: Check engine oil level & pressure; Open or short circuit condition; Failed VTEC pressure switch.Per this video (http://youtu.be/PknGSpDsmiI), I have cleaned the VTC strainer and the solenoid and it’s strainer and have just replaced the VTC oil control solenoid valve expecting that to fix it since the two cleaned strainers didn’t.
It is due for an oil change. I saw another post where a guy had done what I have, disconnected the battery for a while to clear the codes and it ran fine after the codes had been cleared. I haven’t tried that yet so that is my next step.
What am I missing from a troubleshooting standpoint and how can I fix it?
