The list of things to fix on this car is growing. 160k+ miles, so no surprise. i already did most of the suspension except the inner sway bar bushings (have to drop the sub frame). Three of the four motor mounts are split (On order) and attempted the CV Shafts once, but, I’m having an issue getting the drivers side shaft out. Does the car need to be in Neutral? I watched Eric’s video but he doesn’t mention what gear the car is in.

I don’t think it matters what gear it’s in. Some axles are just hard to get out. The circlip on the end really digs into the gear inside.

          Thenks,
I’ll give it another try…i noticed the drivers side has the clip but the longe
r passenger side doesn’t. Hope i have the right parts. Guess i need to be careful not to mushroom the end in case in needs to go back in

Yeah….on the right side the support holds the axle in.

WOO HOO…got the axles out banana:
Since they’re out i’m replacing the swaybar/anti roll bar inner bushings…what a PITA!! I can’t get the two pieces to snap together!!! Not giving up…2 hours on one side already, but it’s only 1:45 and i have tomorrow off too

To Eric: If you ever get a 01-04 Volvo S40, i’d like to see you try the inner sway bar bushings!

Motor mounts are done. Three of the four were torn. The fourth was a hydraulic type and once i pulled it i noticed all the dried hydraulic fluid under it. It feels like a brand new car now!!
