      Watch Eric video and DIY and found #1 exhaust valve abormal wear. Anyone know what cause this? do i need new cam? or other ways around for now?

        That looks like rust pitting to me.

        What is the reason you started this job?

          thanks for the reply. car at 215k and running fine. just need adj. and found this issue. other lobes look fine except one. Do you know what cause this pitting? And what can I do? Regards

                Water causes rust so engine coolant in the oil or that lobe had bad rust on it when it was installed.

                Did the vehicle sit for a very long time outside?

                Are you the original owner?

                  Honestly, in the second photo, that cam looks like you’ve worn through the hardened surface and exposed the softer core metal. Look at the depth of the ridges on both sides. In my opinion, you need a new cam.

                  As for what caused the damage, the likely suspects could be a insufficient lubrication, incorrect valve adjustment, or faulty manufacturing/surface hardening.

                    bought used at 120k. wife use for work about 180miles freeway per day 3 days a week.

                      yes its badly worn. im doing adj right now and found exhaust is below specs at about .28mm when it should be.30mm. could this be the cause and why just one lobe.
