      Hey all,

I just replaced the blower motor in my 2004 dodge stratus se (the OEM one was failing). Once I got the new replacement in (a Four Seasons model with birdcage installed), I noticed that it was making some noises that the original never made.

Under lower speeds, I can hear a low volume/high pitched whine (which disappears on the higher two speeds). Is this normal on a new replacement blower? I wasn’t sure if the brushes need to wear in, or if I potentially got a bad unit? What are the chances this noise will go away with use? Should I remove it again and get another replacement?

      Thank you!

I’d say not normal. On the other hand if not annoying, I’d ignore it.

I’ve fixed these motors when they got to squealing by disassembly and greasing the bearings with chassis grease. This seems to be a permanent fix. You might try it if you have the old motor around.

The problem with the OEM blower was that it was working intermittently, and bench testing indicated that the motor was dying (it was not blowing so fast on high, it would spin very slowly at first and then start blowing like normal). The noise isn’t TOO annoying, I just want to avoid replacing this AGAIN in the dead of winter in my driveway (if I can help it) should the replacement fail soon.

          Thank you!
