I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT (odo 107,000, 4WD) that i use for work daily. I work on it on the weekends. Love the truck.
In the past 2 months I’ve noticed that it has an above average crank time to start the engine IN THE MORNING. Throughout the day it’s fine, it only happens after the car has been sitting over night.
This morning I did a test on it where i turned the key to give power to the car, waited for above 5 seconds, then cranked the engine. Started perfectly fine. How can i start to diagnose where the problem lies that will lead to doing an effective repair?
      Please and thanks.

Other info: car is stock, no mods. did a tune up (new plugs, wires, air and oil filters, new O2 sensors)

Sounds like the fuel pressure in the line is bleeding down cuasing a long crank time. The pump has a one way check valve to prevent this. Your test of turning the key to the run position and waiting points to this as you gave the fuel pump time to prime the system before you cranked it over.

So let’s talk Turkey how do I keep the pressure from bleeding out . Or how can I find out where the leak is

If the check valve is faulty and your losing pressure after sitting for an extended period of time.
            You basically have 2 choices

            1) Cycle the ignition key a couple of times to re-pressurize the fuel system after each extended time at rest.

            2) Bite the bullet, gain access to the fuel pump and replace it.

i’m not even sure that the shrader valve is the problem. But i guess its the best place to start with, unless the check valve is inside/a part of the pump then i wouldnt be able to do it. I dont have the tools to safely lower a ful tank. I’m gonna do more research.

It’s a truck. Easier to move the box to gain access
