I have a torn CV boot and I’ve been driving until anyway waiting for the axle to go out. It hasn’t been making any noise until now. I did a the front brakes and turned the rotors and now when I put on the brakes there is a thumping noise and you can feel it in the brake pedal. Just wondering if it could be that axle now that the brakes have some grab to them? I thought it was the brake shoe moving but I checked everything and it all looks good and it stops fine. What could be making that noise?
With further investigation it sounds like it’s in the brake booster or somewhere under the hood. It’s not low on fluid. When I push on the brakes it sounds like the brake shoes clapping on to the rotor or something. But I’m pretty sure it’s not that and it’s repetitive when the car is moving.
