Im getting 3 CEL codes P2195, P0420, and P0301. The truck runs rough and could not climb small hills, and now can barely make it down a flat road. There is a strong gas smell after driving for a minute. I know one code is a misfire in Cyl 1 so I put in a new coil, and plug and injector for that cyl and it has not helped. What could be happening?

Clogged catalytic converter. Try taking the upstream 02 sensors out and dive the truck and see if its better.

Start with making sure you have strong spark across the board. Sounds like it’s dumping fuel and it’s not burning.

Im going to try and get under it and take the o2 out later and see what happens. as for testing the spark im not sure how to do that.

P2195 is a code for downstream Ho2 sensor stuck lean. P0420 is a catalyst efficiency code. Obviously P0301 Is misfire cylinder number 1. If the exhaust is clogged the engine cannot breath. It can get so bad that it will not let the vehicle accelerate. the easiest thing to do is pull the Upstream ho2 sensors those are the ones before the CAT and see if power is restored. Im betting that’s your problem. Also you could have low compression on cylinder 1 causing your misfire.

I got under the truck to pull the sensor but I dont have a wrench that fits the sensor. Im going to try to get a o2 wrench asap then I will let you know what it does. Thank you all for the advise thus far.

I pulled the passenger side upstream o2 and sure enough I had power again. Now its time to take care of the cat converter. Is there and risk or danger, besides blowing eardrums, if I drive with the o2 out? I need to drive it to my uncles about 10 mins away. Also Im thinking of gutting the cat till I can get ahold of a new one, is there any good way to do this on these trucks?
