The question is for a friend who had the code i looked at the data determined it needed a o2 sensor heater was out no voltage change etc and he replaced it drove fine for a week then back on. Tonight he came by and i recorded the live data and noticed code connect says it could be a brake booster issue which i noticed the fuel #’s lt and st go crazy when braking. So my question is could that really be the issue just a vacuum issue in the pb booster? i’ll post the freeze frame data and if any one would like to see the full data i can post it as well. Thanks for any comments and i hope this is the right area to post this in been awhile since i’ve been stumped on a issue.

Could very well be a vacuum leak. If the booster is leaking it can cause this. I would suggest disconnecting the vacuum line of the booster and plugging that line and see if the LTFT drops.

Thats what i thought i had a issue on a older car i used to have and did that but was skeptical it still worked on the new obd2 cars.

[quote=”college man” post=97927]The p0171 means your running lean not that the o2 has a problem.

Looks like a lean condition under moderate load. Try cleaning the mass airflow sensor and erase the fault code and recheck the fuel trims.

After a week the code came back so now I’m starting to think it is bad.

Cleaned the maf again and the fuel numbers stayed the same about checked the pbb same thing but i noticed it only starts to take fuel away when it’s above idle under and throttle movement and the maf reading goes up and down even under steady 2500-3000 so i’m wondering is that a sign of a screwed maf?
