      For an ’02 Mazda Miata (or any car of that year or later), would there always be a code for a misfire?

        Providing the misfire count is above the threshold I’d say yes.
        P0300 A misfire that is not related to only one cylinder.
        P0301 A misfire that is related to cylinder 1
        P0302 ” ” 2
        P0303 ” ” 3
        P0304 ” ” 4
        P0305 ” ” 5
        P0306 ” ” 6
        P0307 ” ” 7
        Po308 ” ” 8
