I recently noticed in my 2002 honda civic that my speedometer, rpm gauge, heat gauge and gas gauge all read zero for a split second while driving the vehicle, then return to normal within 2-3 seconds. I noticed when the gauges start to work properly again, I get the lights that come on in my dash like if I would have just turned my car on. Including the maitenance required, ebrake light, engine light. When it happens I get no power surges and it is running completely fine and accelorating fine. None of my lights go out either, just the gauges. I am a noob to these forums. I don’t have that much money and couldn’t afford to take it to a shop and get the problem fixed as well. hopefully here to get a possible solution.

      Thank you for your time.

Sounds like you are loosing power or ground to the Instrument cluster or the Instrument cluster itself is bad. what you would need to do is confirm that you have good power and grounds to the instrument cluster while the problem occurs. I don’t know what your skill set is or your background but it would take a little know how to do this. If they were good while the problem is occurring that would suggest an Internal problem in the Instrument cluster. y guess would be you have a problem with the Instrument cluster but without testing to verify you cant say for sure.

If there is a malfunction in the cluster panel would a OB2 tester pick up any codes??

Very unlikely a Honda civic ECU doesn’t really monitor things not specifically related to engine performance so unless the power feed issues were related to the ECU itself it probably doesn’t even know the issue exists. But my advice would be the same as the last persons start by getting to the wiring for the gauge cluster and check your connections that may require removing the gauge cluster itself.
