      Car:
      2002 civic ex auto

      Here’s my story:
I was driving home on the freeway when my civic decides to stall and slow down, causing me to pull over the shoulder. There were no sounds, vibrations, or CEL. Needless to say I had to tow it home.

When I try to start the car it runs for a sec or so and stalls out.

Does this sound like a timing belt that jumped some teeth?

Your timing belt is not broken, otherwise you would never get it to run at all. It would also crank real fast if the timing belt had broken. You can verify with a timing light or a compression tester if you want….
To get you back on the road, I would start checking fuel pressure, and trying to use the gas pedal to keep it running. it might just be an idle issue. then check spark and compression and possibly use a scanner to check fuel trims.

They never said anything about a broken timing belt. But I would also start with the fuel system we cant logical guess what is wrong with your car with such little information.

The fuel relay clicks on and the fuel pump comes on 3 secs.the car starts and shuts off right after.

            I checked the main relay
            Fuel pressure is ok
            Spark is ok

I tried wiggling the ignition key

            So far no luck

Upon pulling off the valve cover, the belt was a couple hairs away from the cam sprocket and the side of the timing belt facing the fender looks slightly scratched up

After taking of the crank pulley and setting tdc, the timing is off at the crank. The belt jumped 2 or 3 teeth.

The pump, tensioner, and spring all look ok.

I replaced the belt and components a couple months ago. Should I just reset the belt or what should I do?

Can I set the timing with the motor mount in there?
