I have a 02 Chevy Cavalier with a 2.2L SFI 159,xxx shortly after purchasing the car on my way home around 2,000rpms or greater I started to hear a noise to what sounded like a rod knock but it was not very loud at all but higher the rpm the louder it got, after noticing that at idle rpms the oil light would come on. The oil level was fine so I have replaced the oil pump thinking that it was the issue for the sudden noise after replacing the oil pump on my way home it started doing the exact same thing but at higher rpms it sounded like it was knocking around 2,500rpms or greater and then the oil light came back on at lower rpms, but there is no distinct noise at any lower rpms it sounds like a healthy motor. I myself have determined that I have a bad connecting rod bearing but at the same time I had no bearing material in the old oil or anywhere to be found in the pan, the pan did have quit a bit of sludge in it and on the pick up could a blocked passage way cause this to happen? Tomorrow I am going to pull the valve cover and see what the oil flow looks like going to the head. If a passage way is blocked where do I start from there?
