      I’ve got an ’01 PT Cruiser with an intermittent “Ding” sound that comes from the instrument cluster – seems to be related to the ABS and traction control warning system. Hasn’t seemed to affect the operation of the vehicle, but he noise is very annoying. Shop told me it would cost 12-1300 for the part, but still no guarantee it would fix the problem. I just want to get rid of the sound. Would like to know how to disable the “dinger”. thx.

        I take it the abs/trac light is on? If you post the codes
        we will help you fix it or pull the fuse for the chime if
        it has one.

          Thanks for the suggestion of pulling the fuse. My shop already told me there was a bad module, which I don’t want to pay $12-1300 to replace. All I want to do is eliminate the chime, so cheaper, in this case, is much better. Thanks again!

            Look under the hood and in your owner’s manual under “fuses”. There should be a fusebox and three ABS fuses. You should only have to pull the main ABS one. Or maybe more, hard to say.
